FC Basel has won this morning its third friendly match in the last day of its stage in Marbella against FCSB Bucarest in the Municipal Stadium of the city with a result of 1-0 (0-0). Edon Zhegrova beat the Romanian club in the 85th minute.
Few ideas, few opportunities, difficult duels and some ball losses. In the match against FCSB Bucarest the Swiss showed a mixed first half with a big effort under pressure from the opponents. For the Romanians it was the first friendly match of the new year, so their legs were visibly fresher.
However, the fact that Basel went home with a positive playing balance is thanks to Edon Zhegrova. The latter dribbled in the 85th minute after preparatory work by Orges Bunjaku and finished on a high. Once again, Zhegrova demonstrated his dribbling skills.
With this match FC Basel said goodbye to its stage at the Marbella Football Center, while FCSB Bucarest continues training in Dama de Noche until January 23rd.

At the international level, they won the AFC Champions League in 2006 and 2016 and were finalists in 2011, becoming the first team from East Asia to win the AFC Champions League in the new format introduced in 2003.
The proceeds from ticket sales for the match between Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord Rotterdam, played last Saturday at the Marbella Football Center, will go to the charity “Superheroes, un niño una sonrisa”. At half-time of this spectacular match, the manager and owner of Football Impact, Andrés Roldán, handed over a cheque for 4,000 euros to a representative of this organisation who was none other than the famous Spiderman. Football Impact thus not only shows its commitment to sport, but also to the good cause.
The main mission of the association “SuperHeroes, un niño una sonrisa” is to provide joy and well-being to children who are sick anywhere in Spain to make this situation easier to bear, both in hospitals, centers and shelters. The association also aims to improve the quality of life of children and adolescents affected by cancer and their families through care, support, and psychosocial, educational and leisure accompaniment.
After two days of intensive training at its Football Impact training camp in Marbella, a first test under competitive conditions was on the agenda for VfB Stuttgart on Monday afternoon. The German second division club with their new trainer Pellegrino Matarazzo competed on the training pitches of La Quinta against FC Basel, who have been in Marbella since January 6th.
After a first half with few chances to score on both sides, the red team started well in the second half of the match. After a nice pass from Philipp Förster, Nicolas Gonzalez scored from the left half with a shot into the top corner of the goal that gave the Stuttgart boys the lead. Just two minutes later, Orel Mangala started another successful attack from the right side. Roberto Massimo finally provided a pass for Hamadi Al Ghaddioui, who only had to push the ball over the line from close range. In the 69th minute, Fabian Bredlow made a good save after Valentin Stocker had taken advantage of an error by the VfB defence to shoot into the goal.
While the Swiss will return home next Thursday, VfB Stuttgart will stay in Marbella until January 19th and play another friendly game in La Quinta the day before its return.
